15th Year Jubilee of the Canonization of St. Philaret

“Praise God in His saints” (Ps.150:1)

Honorable fathers, dear brothers and sisters!

As you know, on November 8/21, 2008, Saint Philaret (Voznesensky), the 3rd First Hierarch of ROCA, an outstanding Archpastor of the Church of Christ, one of the great saints of antiquity, was glorified in the Russian Orthodox Church Abroad. 

Bishop Philaret left us an example of serving God in Love and Truth, showing the royal path of salvation in modern life, in evading the extremes of modernism and ecumenism, on the one hand, and jealousy beyond reason, on the other. And now Saint Philaret of Christ intercedes for us at the Throne of the Lord of Glory so that we too will be faithful to this royal path of salvation and pass on our experience to the next generation of children of the Russian Church Abroad.

This year, as for 15 years already, celebrations of the glorification of St. Philaret take place in the Holy Trinity Church in Astoria, New York. In honor of this event, on November 8/21, 2023, in the Church of the Holy Trinity, a archbishop service will be held, led by His Eminence Andronik, Archbishop of New York and North America.

Worship schedule:

– November 7/20, 6 pm, all-night vigil;

– November 8/21, 9.30 am, meeting of the Bishop, Hours, Divine Liturgy;

– Festive luncheon, memories of St. Philaret.
