Funeral of Bishop Stefan of Trenton and North America

The funeral service for Bishop Stefan (Sabelnik) of Trenton and North America was held on Saturday, August 25, 2018, at the Church of the Cathedral of the Holy Assumption in Trenton, New Jersey. The service was led by Archbishop Andronik of Syracuse and St. Nicholas, along with Mitered Archpriest Gregory Kotlaroff, Archpriest Sergey Klestov, Fr. Oleg Gritsenko, Fr. John Trepatschko, and Fr. Dmitry Dobronravov. The choir was led by choir director Alexandra Manak, who for many years knew, loved and assisted Vladyka.

Many of the Bishop’s spiritual children, relatives and friends came to pay their respects to Bishop Stefan on his final earthly path.

Before the prayer for the Absolution of the Dead, Abp. Andronik shared with those in attendance his many memories of the departed, noting that they had known each other for many years. At the conclusion of the service, Vladyka Stefan was buried at St. Vladimir’s cemetery in Jackson, New Jersey. The parish sisterhood welcomed everyone back to the church hall for a memorial luncheon.
