Subdeacon Viktor Kachkovskiy has reposed in the Lord.
On Holy Saturday, April 18, the servant of God Viktor Kachkovskiy, a subdeacon at the Church of St. Sergius of Radonezh in Valley Cottage, NY, reposed in the Lord.
Subdeacon Viktor loved Church. Earlier in his life he had worshipped in churches of the Orthodox Church of America, but he found truth only in the Russian Orthodox Church Abroad and remained faithful to the church until his untimely demise.
Viktor played a very active part in the life of the Church of St. Sergius of Radonezh at the Tolstoy Foundation. With great enthusiasm he assisted the church’s rector, Fr. Grigory Kotlaroff, as well as Archbishop Andronik, and he often visited the Religious-Cultural Center in Mountain View, NY, especially during Holy Week. Viktor loved to read the Epistle during the Liturgy.
Despite the fact that subdeacon Viktor lived far from the church, he frequently came for Vespers and the Divine Liturgy, bringing with him everyone who wanted to pray in the church.
The last time the newly-departed Subdeacon Viktor was at the Church of St. Sergius of Radonezh was during the week of the Veneration of the Holy Cross and he died on Holy Saturday from illness.
We will remember Viktor for his kindness, warm-heartedness, and dedication to the Church.
Eternal memory and eternal peace to the newly departed Subdeacon Viktor!
