At the initiative of and with the blessing of the Council of Bishops of the Diaspora District of the Russian Orthodox Church Abroad (ROCA), the faculty and administrators of the St. John and St. Philaret School of Theology have been preparing for the opening first semester of the school in early 2019….

This year marks ten years to the day since the glorification of St. Filaret and celebrations in commemoration were held in all of our Church’s parishes. In 2008, the canonization was performed at the Church of the Holy Trinity in Astoria, New York, and now ten years later this parish and its rector, organized a spiritual celebration for the love for God and St. Filaret….

The year 2018 marks the 10th anniversary of the commission of a canonical and dogmatic crime against the Russian Orthodox Church by members of the Odessa Synod headed by Met. Agafangel (Pashkovskiy)…

Talks were held between Bishop Akakije, the head of the Serbian True Orthodox Church and Bishops of the Diaspora District of the ROCA. Participants in these talks were (from STOC): Bishop Akakije, priest Romaric, hieromonk Nikon, Abbess Efrosynia (Nikolic), nun Euphrosynia (Molchanov), the secretary of the Lesna convent, and Vitaly Shumilo, while Archbishop Andronik, Archbishop Sophroniy, Bishop Andrei and George Lukin represented ROCA….

The 2nd Iveron Choral Conference brought its work to a close with a number of celebratory church services, conducted with the Bishop’s rite: the All-Night Vigil at the Church of St. Sergius of Radonezh at the Tolstoy Center in Valley Cottage, NY, and the Divine Liturgy at the Church of the Holy Trinity in Astoria, NY…..

Dear archpastors, pastors, brothers and sisters, we invite everyone to join us in celebrating the 10th anniversary of the glorification of the First Hierarch of the Russian Orthodox Church Abroad, Metropolitan Philaret (Voznesenskiy).

The celebratory All-night vigil will be held on November 23, 2018, at 6:00 PM, at the Church of the Holy Trinity in Astoria, NY. The Bishop’s Divine Liturgy will be performed on November 24, 2018, at 9:30 AM, at the same church. On this same day, 36 years ago, the Montreal Iveron Icon began to stream myrrh. After the Service, tea and refreshments will be served and we will remember the life of Vladyka Philaret.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM in the Church of St. Nikita the Confessor in Richfield Springs, NY on Tuesday November 6. Burial will follow the same day at the cemetery of the Holy Trinity Monastery in Jordanville, NY.
